FAQs

Q. How soon should a child be evaluated by an orthodontist?

A. Some children are excellent candidates for orthodontic treatment, even though they may still have some “baby teeth.” It is beneficial for you to have your child evaluated by an orthodontist by age seven to assess any problems that may be developing.

Q. Are there other options other than metal braces?

A. Yes! If metal braces are not right for you, there are other options available. We offer Damon Braces, which feature clear brackets, Invisalign and Harmony Custom Lingual Braces, which is a digitally customized wire that fits behind your teeth. We’ll go over these options in full in our office during your consultation.

Q. I hesitate to have orthodontic treatment because I really hate those messy impressions.

A. Good news! Dr. Cohen was the first orthodontist in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey to incorporate digital impressions in orthodontics. No messy impressions in our office. A wand with a camera inside, is passed over your teeth capturing a perfect image which is used to digitally reproduce an impression. No mess, no gagging. It’s just another way to make your orthodontic experience a pleasant one.

Q. I am a 55 year old woman. Is it too late for me to have orthodontics?

A. No, it’s never too late to get braces or Invisalign. In fact, we consistently see great results because most adults are more disciplined and compliant than some youngsters. And, today there are many options available to you. You’ll be completely evaluated at our Philadelphia orthodontist or New Jersey orthodontist office to see which method is best for your particular case.

Q. How much do braces cost?

A. We almost always cannot give you an exact fee for your particular case until we meet with you, complete a consultation and find the option that’s best for you. Cost is based on the extent of treatment needed and the type of treatment you opt for. We are able to offer you options for payment for orthodontic care.
